New Stockist. Radstudio, Saltaire

If there was a record to break for the shortest distance traveled to drop off stock to a stockist, I think I'd have it covered, as I took the short stroll two streets along to drop off some stock to Radstudio in Saltaire.

While I was there I took some pictures of the space, and asked the owner Gina a few questions...

Hi Gina. What's your elevator pitch when describing Radstudio to anyone who hasn't visited the shop?

Radstudio is a design lead gift and lifestyle shop...well thats the tag line!'.

The aim is to offer something different from your standard small village 'gift shop'... Products are a little bit different, fun or functional. I pick things based on what I like and present them in a lifestyle setting.

How long has the shop been open?

Radstudio has been in Saltaire approaching 5 years. I took over the business in September 2016 and haven't looked back.

What's the best bit about owning an indie shop?

I totally love my shop and Saltaire... Owning an indie shop is hard work but it is also so rewarding. I get to buy pretty things for a living and work surrounded by beautiful products. I am so lucky to be based in Saltaire and have so many amazing local customers.

How do you find all the talented people you stock?

This is a real mixture... I do the standard trade shows that are great for finding emerging brands and catching up with more established ones.

I love a good craft fair and is the perfect opportunity to meet designers face to face, a couple of my favourites are... Northern Craft, they have brought a modern design edge to the crafting world and being held in Northern Monk you can also have a good beer!

The Hepworth always curate a good fair (and not that you need an excuse but it's a great reason to go over have a look around the gallery) and I can't miss off the arts trail in Saltaire in May houses turn into pop up galleries!

The online rabbit warren is also great, follow a few leads and you quickly find some great talent... finally people get in touch with me!

If anyone is planning on visiting the shop, where else should they check out while in Saltaire?

I often joke that I am half shop keeper half tour guide! I am always sending people of in various directions! My top 5 would be:

A visit to Saltaire isn't complete without a trip to Salts Mill...I love exploring antique shop!

A trip up Shipley Glen on the Tram way.

Coffee and cake in Tambourine cafe

Stroll along the canal with an ice cream.

Finishing with a beer in the Cap and Collar.

I have basically described my perfect day off!

Mines too Gina! Thanks so much!
